About the Work

This remarkable lithograph represents Salvador Dalí's visionary fusion of technology and surrealism during his later career. Created in 1975 as part of his "Imaginations and Objects of the Future Portfolio," this work presents Dalí's prophetic reimagining of television as a fluid, ever-changing medium.
"Liquid & Gaseous Television" features Dalí's characteristic dreamlike imagery, transforming the conventional television set into something ethereal and transformative. The composition includes collage elements on Japon paper, creating a multi-dimensional quality that enhances the surrealist effect.

This piece reflects Dalí's lifelong fascination with scientific progress and technological innovation, viewed through his uniquely surrealist lens. By envisioning television as a liquid and gaseous medium rather than a solid object, Dalí anticipates the evolution of media into more fluid, immersive forms—a prescient vision considering today's digital streaming landscape.

The work invites viewers to contemplate the intersection of dreams, science, and the future, merging scientific terminology with fantastical concepts that suggest a pre-birth existence—a recurring theme in Surrealist exploration of the subconscious.

The lithograph comes from the International edition of 250 (from a total edition of 600) and is hand-signed "Dalí" in pencil within the image and numbered by the artist. Its authenticity has been confirmed by Bruce Hochman OS, the leading authority on Salvador Dalí's artwork, and a certificate of authenticity will be included with purchase.

This work has never been framed and remains in excellent condition, offering collectors an important example of Dalí's late-period creativity and his enduring influence on our understanding of art, technology, and imagination.
