"Lights Out" (2021) embodies Mesler's sophisticated approach to text-based art. The work transforms a common phrase into a visual meditation through his characteristic manipulation of typography and space. Through layered printing techniques, Mesler creates a dialogue between text as language and text as image.

This print demonstrates Mesler's ability to infuse everyday phrases with new meaning through artistic intervention. The work's composition plays with ideas of visibility and invisibility, legibility and abstraction – themes that resonate with its titular reference to darkness and illumination.

The piece continues Mesler's exploration of how language shapes experience, while engaging with fundamental artistic concerns about light, dark, and the space between reading and seeing.
