Biography
Helen Frankenthaler developed the soak-stain technique in 1952 — pouring thinned paint directly onto unprimed canvas so that color and surface became inseparable. That single move opened the door for Morris Louis, Kenneth Noland, and most of Color Field painting. Her print editions, produced across five decades with master printers at ULAE, Tyler Graphics, and elsewhere, carry the same command of color and transparency as the paintings. The estate is represented by Gagosian.
