In Fairey's HPMs the printed image is worked over by hand, and here the background is built from layered collage, stencilled patterns and printed ephemera, so no two examples are alike.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eFairey (b. 1970) emerged from the skateboarding and punk scenes with the OBEY Giant sticker campaign he began in 1989, and reached a global audience with his 2008 \u003cem\u003eHope\u003c\/em\u003e portrait of Barack Obama.
