About the work+
This striking black and white screenprint is the first plate from KAWS' celebrated "Man's Best Friend" portfolio released in 2016. Created on premium Saunders Waterford High White paper, this work showcases KAWS' distinctive interpretation of the beloved comic character Snoopy through his signature abstract line drawing technique.

"Man's Best Friend (Plate #1)" exemplifies KAWS' artistic practice of appropriating and reimagining iconic cultural symbols. As the artist has stated, he has always been a fan of Charles Schulz's work, and this appreciation manifests throughout his oeuvre in sculptures, large-scale paintings, and commercial collaborations like those with Uniqlo.

The portfolio consists of ten black and white images, each offering a different perspective on the Peanuts character. This particular plate demonstrates KAWS' masterful balance between respecting the original character while transforming it through his distinctive visual language, characterized by bold lines and his signature "X" motif.

KAWS (Brian Donnelly, b. 1974) has established himself as one of the most influential contemporary artists, successfully bridging the worlds of fine art, street culture, fashion, and design. His work resonates with both serious art collectors and broader audiences, reflecting his belief in the accessibility of art.

This print comes from a limited edition of 100 with 20 artist's proofs and has been meticulously preserved in its original condition. It has never been framed and has been stored flat in a climate-controlled facility since its purchase from Pace Prints
