Slim Aarons

Slim Aarons spent five decades photographing the social rituals of wealth — poolside in Palm Beach, après-ski in Gstaad, garden parties in the Hollywood Hills. A combat photographer in the Second World War, he traded battlefields for resorts and never looked back. His stated ambition was to photograph “attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places,” and the pictures hold up because they document a world that was already disappearing when he pressed the shutter. Getty Images manages the estate; prints are produced as archival C-types in numbered editions.
