Biography

Christo and Jeanne-Claude wrapped the Reichstag, lined a California valley with umbrellas, and draped saffron fabric through Central Park. Every project was self-financed through the sale of preparatory drawings, collages, and lithographs — the editions were never afterthoughts but the economic engine that made the large-scale work possible. Christo’s hand-drawn studies remain among the most collectible works on paper from the late twentieth century.
